The Opportunity
We are currently accepting applications for an energetic, detail-oriented, resourceful person to provide maintenance support to our facilities department. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this individual will play a key role in the daily maintenance of buildings, security, custodial support, special event preparation, some heavy lifting, some work at heights, shipping and receiving.
Operational Effectiveness
-Highly resourceful, pro-active and organized
-Must be able to manage multiple tasks under tight timeframes, and be a self-starter who is able to work both independently and function well within a team
-Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate.
-Prioritize and manage own workflow to ensure quality and efficiency (ie. meet deadlines; be flexible in adjusting to changing work priorities).
-Efficiently manage expectations/concerns through strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Take initiative to identify and recommend improvements in own job function, research and/or investigate issues requiring resolution in order to execute on assigned tasks.
Teamwork/Support
-Be an effective resource and flexible in adjusting to changing work priorities.
-Participate fully as a member of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
-Support the team by continuously developing knowledge in own area.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
-Previous maintenance experience required
-Experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry or general handyman an asset
-Man lift/boom lift experience an asset
-Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license
-Basic computer skills [Word, Outlook]
-Ability to work in a school environment, with minimal supervision
-Good organizational skills
-Maintain a positive and professional attitude
-Demonstrated commitment to quality and strong attention to detail
-Excellent communications skills in English (verbal, written, comprehension)
-A high level of self-motivation and dependability
